About HRVR

Hudson River Valley Resorts, LLC (“HRVR”) was formed in 2007 to pursue the redevelopment of the former Williams Lake Resort property. HRVR LLC consists of several private investors who share values of social and environmental responsibility.  HRVR believes that environmentally sensitive lands (such as the Williams Lake property) can be responsibly (and profitably) developed to the benefit of the community and the Hudson River Valley region.

The Hudson River Valley Resort project was initiated by Canopy Development, a land development company focused on sustainability and community based in Northampton, Massachusetts, in the spring of 2006.  During 2006 and into 2007, Canopy and HRVR directed due diligence, design and community outreach efforts under the philosophy that development projects achieve a higher quality through a nuanced understanding of the land, the land’s environmental constraints and community concerns about proposed developments.  During this period, HRVR invested in topographic mapping, a natural resource inventory, wetlands mapping, preliminary engineering and multiple meetings with neighbors and community stakeholders.  In the fall of 2006, a design charrette, held with the participation of several of the leading ecological designers in the U.S., produced a series of concept plans for the project that have evolved into HRVR’s current conceptual plan for the project.

The core HRVR project team, including contributors to the 2006 design charrette, consists of the following members:
